Katie Bell is a visual director with a talent for getting naturalistic, genuine performances from both children and adults, as well as making the world look beautiful.
After gaining a Graphic Design degree from Middlesex University London, Katie’s interest in directing first came when she worked at MTV Europe in the design department, designing idents and on-screen graphics. She then moved to post-production, combining live action special effects with designing title sequences. Her titles for John Paul Gaultier's Eurotrash led to her being asked to direct her first music video resulting to other works for artists including The Bee Gees, Boyzone, Roachford, Tanita Tikeram, BBMac, Girls Aloud, Rachel Stevens, Myleene Klas and Lucy Silvas.
Her experience in design, SFX, and music has proved a useful visual background that has developed into a style that is very naturalistic. In recent years she has been busy shooting commercials (her first ad, an anti-smoking film for Scottish Health Education Board won best commercial in Scotland.) with big brands including KLM, Capital Radio, Bandaid, Dove, Danone, Persil, Ribena, B&Q, Skip, Dixan, Kraft, Listerine, Signal, Royal Bank of Scotland, Nestle, Pampers, Danone, Chicco, Kinder, Eurostar, Scholl, Kraft, Muller, Walmart, and Minute-Maid.
Katie is a collaborative director with vast experience filming with kids and brings a strong visual aesthetic, total commitment and a tremendous work ethic to every project.
