Poppie Sköld is a writer, director, producer and editor from London. Since graduating from the University of Bristol in 2006 with a BA in Drama (Film, Theatre and Television), Poppie has gone on to direct, produce and edit twenty independent short films. Her work has screened at the London Short Film Festival, London Independent Film Festival, Underwire Festival and Shooting People. She has also been nominated for a Channel 4 4Talent Short Documentary Award and Best Sound Design at Underwire Festival.
Working closely with musicians such as Anna Calvi, The Invisible and the late Ari Up of The Slits, Poppie has created a series of music-led observational portraits. And in 2014, Poppie collaborated with writer Ben Webb when she directed the trilogy film project, Lightly Covered With Buttoned Cloth, a set of three short films focused on life in contemporary London.
More recently, Poppie has directed and edited short documentaries and campaign films for the Trades Union Congress (TUC), London Buddhist Centre, Grenfell Speaks and the Single Homeless Project. As well as directing a party election broadcast for The Labour Party, which aired on BBC1, ITV and Channel 4 during the 2019 General Election and was viewed by an estimated 9 million people.
As a freelance editor, Poppie has worked across both broadcast and online. Clients include Saatchi & Saatchi, BBC Studios, The British Fashion Council, Pulse Films, The Story Lab, Wired, Net-A-Porter, Sony, Warp Records, Something Media, Comic Relief, Vogue and Beck's Music Inspires Art.
